Style Bee - Summer - Look 2

Flares are not for everyone. This much I know to be true, but if you happen to be a fan I dare say we have something in common. I’ve worn this pair a ton all summer and they just keep winning me over. I mean who can really say no to a slimming waistline and leg lengthening magic? Not I!

That said, it’s easy to give in and let a little flare lead you down the road to full on 70’s style, which is definitely not bad, it’s just not what I’m going for exactly. I’ve found that adding a couple of minimal layers with a contemporary loose fit makes the look a little more minimal and relaxed. I particularly love this silky tank from Everlane for it’s loose drape and it’s perfect cut for front tucking, then when the evenings cool down a lightweight linen jacket is an absolute lifesaver.

It’s Monday so I’ll keep it short but I hope this simple look provides a little inspiration for your style this week!

Great point about the road to the 70’s. I just picked up the same pair of flares, and upon trying them on my mind definitely wandered down that path, and it didn’t jive. I almost didn’t get the jeans. But I did, and I love how you styled them here.

One more thing, do you ever feel limited on the shoes you can wear with them?

Good question! In a sense yes, but I love wearing flares long so I have a pair of platforms and a pair of wedges that I alternate. Luckily both are quite comfortable. The 3.5 inches of extra height ensures they don’t drag and makes my legs look super long! A fair trade for shoe options in my mind. 🙂

Glad I’m not the only one who felt that way about them! I love 70’s style but it can get costume-y pretty quick. I’m sure you’ll love them and find a ton of ways to style them that’s fresh and contemporary. Honestly a plain white tee and a statement necklace is my favourite way right now too. xo
